    In the second half of August I will be manufacturing and assembling wire dipoles and wire verticals for the Bouvet Island 3Y0K expedition

    14.8. - Today I am starting to manufacture wire dipoles for the 14-18-21-24 MHz bands. It was necessary to design a durable but lightweight center section of the dipole with a coaxial cable connection with a PL-UHF connector so that it would put as little strain as possible on the end of the fiberglass telescopes. Everything had to be able to withstand the strong winds that prevail on the island, which are commonly around 80-100 km/h (e.g., today's forecast is 77-82 km/h).
